Perhaps most well-known of the 4Cs of diamonds, the carat of the stone is the measure of its weight. Diamond size is measured in millimeters, but each shape holds its weight differently. That means a princess cut diamond and a round diamond that both weigh 1 carat will have different measurements in millimeters.

Often mistaken for the diamond's shape, cut is a measure of how well light can dance through the stone's facets. That's what gives them their irresistible sparkle and fire. Though there are four cut grades, With Clarity only carries the top three to make sure you get a diamond with maximum brilliance.

Graded on a scale from D to Z, diamond color is the degree of colorlessness or tint of yellow/brown. The more colorless, the rarer and higher the value the diamond.

When diamonds form in nature, tiny imperfections called inclusions form in the stones. Clarity, which is graded from FL (flawless) to I (included) is a measure of how many of these imperfections are in a stone. But many of these imperfections can only be seen with magnification, which means your stone will still look gorgeous to your eye.

Diamond fluorescence is the grade assigned to diamonds that show a blue glow when the diamond is seen under UV lights. While diamond fluorescence does not affect the look of the diamond under natural light or indoor lights, diamonds with a strong fluorescence can look hazy, so it is important to check with a gemologist. Meanwhile, diamonds that have fluorescence but a lower color grade can look whiter.

Lab Grown Diamonds

How is it made
Natural vs. Lab Created
Is it the Same Quality
What is GIA

Lab diamonds are “grown” in lab settings. Labs are able to mimic the same way natural diamonds are grown within the earth. High-tech methods are used to speed up the process and create a diamond that has the same qualities as a natural diamond. While natural diamonds take billions of years to form, lab diamonds are grown with intense heat and pressure within a short period of time.

Lab diamonds have the same look, feel and sparkle as a natural earth mined diamond. Both molecularly and visually when set in a ring, a natural diamond looks the same as a lab grown diamond. Both diamonds are graded on the same scale for 4 C’s. A lab created diamond is real. Due to the difference in the sourcing and supply chain, lab grown diamonds can be less expensive than their natural counterparts.

Lab diamonds have a range of qualities and grades, just like natural earth mined diamonds do. With Clarity lab diamonds are graded by the GIA/IGI lab. All diamonds are vetted thoroughly and assessed by a team of gemologists. Grades are compared to give a final through certificate to each diamond.

IGI is a worldwide leader in certifying and grading gemstones and diamonds. With a laboratory presence and schools around the world, IGI has honed their process over nearly 50 years of operation. IGI uses the standard 4 C assessment in addition to a variety of other parameters to provide a comprehensive report on all diamonds.

GIA Certified Natural Diamonds

One of the world's most famous and precious gemstones, natural diamonds are a wonderful gift to yourself and for a loved one. When it comes to natural diamond engagement rings, diamond earrings and other types of jewelry, the diamond shape is very crucial in a purchase. The shape is the most visual aspect of a natural diamond and reflects the price and value of a stone. At With Clarity, we carry the following conflict-free diamond shapes: round , princess, cushion, radiant , asscher, emerald, oval, pear, marquise and heart. Whether you go with the evergreen classic round shape or the trendy contemporary emerald shape, there are other diamond aspects you should know about before purchasing. Refer to our diamond education guide, where we address all your questions about cut, color, clarity, and carat. We give you advice and resources so you can shop diamonds pressure-free and with confidence. All With Clarity diamonds are certified and come with original certification with purchase.
